Data AI analysis design
Data Reporting / Simpleview Data Engine
What
AI is So Hot Right Now so we have included AI analysis of CRM-derived data into the product - both for the visualisations and documents.
AI analysis of data ties in perfectly with the goal of good product design - helping the user to have a better experience of the platform. It helps to demystify the data and is a lot less intimidating than a table of numbers, or a bunch of lines in a graph.

Why
We needed a way for visualisations and documents built by the user to be used to generate an AI analysis of their data.
The user needed a way to set the prompts for their analysis, and this meant incorporating the feature into the existing UI.
We also thought about what the user would like to do with the data once they had it. However the challenge is that data becomes out of date very quickly, so it's not quite as simple as saving an analysis as a PDF for example, and we also had to mark what text is AI generated.

How
For the Visualisation Builder, I was asked to provide some ideas for a chat/conversational AI analysis layout. I also looked at some options as to what the user can do with the data once they has the commentary.
For the Document Builder feature, we have two forms of analysis - of the entire document, and also of specific collections of visualisations in the pages. This is done with an AI-specific text block, which are placed by the user in the page and then populated with AI text based on the user’s prompts and visualisation selection. I added in a way for the user to choose specifically which visualisations should be used for a single analysis, so the user can really customise their prompt.

Result
I have incorporated AI analysis into the current interface of two different features of Data Engine, where the needs are slightly different.
I thought of some other AI-related choices which can help the user refine their analysis, and as a group we have refined the ideas to create MVP options, with some ideas in our back pocket to use for future iterations.
