What
MINT+ is a CRM product used by the destination management sector.
The destination management organisations use the CRM to track the past patterns of conference bookings by location, type and size and use this knowledge to plan tenders and help to choose which destinations to choose next - which will work for their deligates and which can cater for their needs. Themes such as accommodation, travel links and capacity are factors.
Why
I was asked to redesign and reformat the navigation system of the platform, in the context of its largest client’s customised version.
Our company CEO was going to present my recommended navigation revision at an international conference and he needed ideas and mockups very quickly, then the changes would be put into the product later.
No pressure, then...
I managed to do it in about 10 days, and the presentation went well.
How
I had never seen the platform before, so first I had to get my head around what it does, and then explore how the client's customised version was different. Their CRM UI was also a different design so I had to factor that in.
We had regular meetings with the team because of the tight deadline, and this also included the client because we needed to know that what I was proposing would work for them and how they use the system.
I worked with the team to gather an understanding of what the navigation needed to achieve and how users currently use it, then I set about doing high fidelity mockups in Figma because visuals were needed very quickly, and I met the CEO’s tight deadline with a good solution. Fortunately, I work quite fast!
Result
The design refresh work came later as a little project - I had some free time and the Product Manager asked what I'd recommend as a design refresh that would work within their current code and layout structure, since I was suddenly now so familiar with it!
So far my recommendations have not been applied to the product, but I really enjoyed the work so I don't fell that it has been time wasted at all.
I also created a Figma component library for the MINT+ platform, which I use for the small changes which I help with from time to time.
