The Harrington Collection
What
The Harrington Collection is a group of restored buildings in Kensington, London, which have been converted into luxury serviced apartments.
It is Fin-Ex's main company, and it was my first project when I started as their designer. It was a large ongoing project where we redesigned the site and added new membership functionality.
What we did
When I started at Fin-Ex, the developers had already started building the site with a combination of Bootstrap and Wordpress - they had put in the basic content and page structure, and it was my job to skin the pages with a new design.
My aim was to keep the structure of the design as similar as possible to the existing build, to avoid the developers having to rebuild any content or functionality while applying my design to their pages.
How
- Since the site was mostly already built, I took what had been done and overlaid a clean, sophisticated design over it. I mocked up each of the pages in Adobe XD for the CEO's approval, then we moved on to applying the designs to the pages
- I worked on the HTML and CSS of some of the pages, to help the developers out while they focused on the functionality
- I supported the developers with whatever images they needed, email designs, styling information, and functionality structure mock-ups
- I helped with testing - proof reading, responsive testing and provided feedback on issues that needed addressing. For any content changes, I did them myself in the pages that were accessible in Wordpress
- I was responsible for creating the 360° walkthrough videos for each of the apartments, after teaching myself how to operate the camera and process the videos for use on the website
Prime Central Let Checkmate.
The Prime Central Let website design was something that I worked on just before leaving the company - it was a concept that the CEO was working on and it seems to have not materialsed since I left the company.
I was tasked with working on user journeys and wireframes for the pages, and coming up with the overall look-and-feel for the design (including the logo) - I chose a very clean icon-based design.
To be honest, looking at it again now a few years down the line, I still think it's a good design.
